Home From Some Strange Place
My mother was always a source of truth in my life. She was the most genuine, honest person I have ever met. My mom had a way with words and was a great storyteller. She loved hearing about my relationship woes and always had plenty to say about the protagonist! Mom died in 2019. I miss her more than words can say.

in Missing You Poems
My phone is ringing, thank goodness!
A smile across my face
I know it's mom, a welcome return
Home from some strange place
My phone is ringing, thank goodness!
A smile across my face
I know it's mom, a welcome return
Home from some strange place
"Where have you been? It's been too long!
I need to tell you something!
What would you do if you were me?"
My fate would be forthcoming
Always right, always the truth
Sometimes her words would cut me
My heart would sink, my brow would furrow
My wish was not to be
Somehow she knew the answer
"I sense doom and gloom," she'd say.
I'd pretend it wasn't true
And go on my merry way
Somehow it always came to be
Just as she said it would,
"Something's wrong with this one, and
that one is no good."
"You dodged a bullet," she'd say.
Her rationale would follow
Pity those who crossed her
You might not see tomorrow
Catch up on our favorite shows
Poking fun at dad
Plan a weekend movie
Most fun we've ever had
My God, how much I miss her!
I need my phone to ring
I promise I will take the call
I'll drop everything
How odd she hasn't called me
I have so much to say
It feels so right to answer
So wrong to walk away
If she called today
I would not be surprised
I knew it was a dream
A nightmare filled with lies
"Oh mom, I know you're there!
Call me when you're through.
You'll laugh when you hear this!
Ok. Talk soon. I love you!"
