A soldier sees a mirage out in the desert.
‘just A Dream’

SAGAR YADAV
Life in a desert
walking alone on the road
looking for company
finally you find one
very far she is
a lot of distance you still have to walk
and the sun pouring its wrath
your thirsty throat quenching for water
your sweat is the only trace of moisture
the desert absorbs all it gets
but the pretty face attracts
and she is the only company
but a long way to go
before you reach her
is it road or burning coal..?
blisters under feet have a tale to tell
-Ambition burns more than the sun.
if you get to her,
torment will come to an end
though no energy left
and mind insists on leaving her,
heart is a strong rebel
and body gives up in the duel
you dared dare yourself
took a deep breath
and ran till the horizon
where the beauty was
only to find nothing
-From the same distance
she compels you
and makes you run once more
only this time a rock comes in your way
making you fall on your knees
but no power to stand
-hopeless, helpless and weak now
you remember the days of the past
you had a green life
and you left the oasis
to seek her company
the wind blows over you
and brings the hot sand
layer-by-layer you are being buried
to make you part of the desert
and through the mirage she laughs
