I am often told that I think too much. I do not always agree but sometimes they are right. I sometimes forget to enjoy life itself and this poem is about how I realized how I need to live every moment to its fullest.
Time Rhyme
Rhyme on Time
I ask why I must be
6 or 7 drinks into me?
To feel the beat of a lovely song
to sing or dance along?
Why can't this young mind rest?
Mirror what its body may suggest.
It's my problem I came to find
threads of time entwined in mind.
We're all guilty of this fatal crime
my problem with what we call time.
This blissful collection of pasts
the ones, of course, I wish would last.
Or even times which lay ahead
they all shoot like rifles in my head.
These thoughts they dull my senses
robbing me of pleasant present tenses.
This drink in hand kindly revealed
my disease is masked, but never healed.
At this current moment I begin ponder
into the future my thoughts wander.
“Will my heart beat long enough,
or these time trials prove too tough?”
God please send me the reason
to smile every second, every season.
I'll try to appreciate simply living
attempt a life of selfless giving.
This cloudless, eerie night
is one I'll grasp with all my might.
The air is quick to pass through my hair.
Temperature is neither cold or hot but fair.
My pen is freely guiding
and my sad state slowly subsiding.
Together pen and paper helped define,
share in writing my problem with time.
