I did not know Uncle Elden until I was in my forties. But over the years we kept in touch and I would visit him at least once a year. Even though we lived over 3,000 miles apart we became very close.

Near the end
He sat there
Peering out the window
Each morning,
Waiting for sunrise,
Knowing not many
Remained.
He relished the sun's
Daily visits,
As he enjoyed life,
Letting things come,
Accepting them,
As he did
Life's end.
