Maiden Voyage 2 D Highseas

©  RUCHI RASTOGI
I was going to join my husband on board,
Thanks for giving me this opportunity, O dear Lord.

My heart was beating so fast,
Finally the day I longed for had come at last.

I went to the airport to take the flight,
“How would I react seeing my husband after 4 months time”, only this was my plight.

The flight took off n v were served tea, coffee, juice n wine,
But I was lost dreaming about the reunion that would be so divine.

“welcome to Kaula Lumpur”, a voice called,
I woke up n realized its time for the next stop.

Had to take another flight to Hong Kong,
Oh the journey really seemed to b so long.

On reaching the ship my eyes met his n I felt a little shy,
Well, even I cannot say “why”.

One by one he made me meet his crew members,
Deep inside I just wanted he should first take me to our chamber.

We went to the cabin n v hugged each other hard,
Then he told me he had work, I just wished for some days his duty gets barred.

Soon I realized I was into a new world,
From land I was on sea, initially everything seemed to be so blurred.

I went around the ship to see how it looked,
Much to my surprise I felt a hotel v had booked.

The meals were so lavish n delicious,
Oh good eating had always been my weakness.

Starting from Hong Kong, v were heading towards New York city,
23 days of sailing, this was really a pity.

But the ambience is so extraordinary n fine,
Time was just running nine o nine.

The sea sometimes got rough n the ship like a pendulum moved to n fro,
That was the time I missed home n really felt so low.

But those gloomy days came only sometimes,
So they were forgettable giving them a benefit of coming once in a while.

I met all sort of people here,
Everyone was so perfect in their assigned job spheres.

These shippy’s enjoyed themselves, took things light,
Actually their basic funda was, “ where’s the party tonight”

“the bridge” is a place where they controlled the ship’s route and give it a direction,
Like guards on a terrace performing all the major actions.

In the “smoke room” they go for leisure,
Masti, movies n magazines gives them immense pleasure.

“forward” is like heaven on ship,
Just like Kashmir on earth has made its grip.

“engine room” is full of machinery so advanced,
Which enables the ship to run at its pace without any deviance.

Every crew member is a thorough gentlemen,
Anybody who meets them would rate them ten on ten.

They live away from their family alone,
But in each other’s company, they find a home away from home.

The moments spent here on “Victoria bridge” were the best moments of my life,
I owe them to God, for making me a Seaman’s wife.
