Robert And The Spider

©  Megan
Robert the Bruce used to be almighty and brave,
But now he lives in a tiny little cave,
For his courage was taken by Edward the first,
And now he felt like he was cursed.

Hopeless and helpless so he was,
And there is a reasons and that is because,
He tried to defeat Edwards knights,
Who outnumbered him in all their fights.

Then down came a spider from upon the wall,
The spiders efforts had begun to fall,
Silky ropes of spidery, fragile thread,
Broke time and time again above Bruce's head.

As Robert the Bruce was about to give in,
He saw the poor spider trying to win,
Eventually the spider achieved its goal,
Bruce was inspired, he was on a role.

Robert the Bruce was relieved to say,
That in a cave he would no longer stay,
Back to fight to make Scotland free,
That was the future he could see.
