A Needed Dad

Did you know that no matter what, you are my dad,
And without you I'm very sad?

I miss the way we used to have fun,
Playing all hours with or without the sun.

I want you to be the one to walk down the aisle with me,
My real dad I want everyone to see.

Time will heal these scars,
I can see it written in the stars.

We will all wait for you,
Because we all still love you too.

Can you see through our teary eyes,
Can you see all our past cries?

I want to live a new life,
Without all this pain and strife.

I am willing to try real hard, are you?
Or do you want to forget us and be totally through?

I want you to be my dad,
I want to be loved and not be bad.

You are the light at the end of my tunnel,
Without you our lives drain into nothing through a funnel.

When I talk to you on the phone,
My heart is not alone.

I'm sorry things turned out this way,
I look to the ceiling while in my bed I lay.

I hope this is not the way it will stay,
And it hurts because all I can do is pray.

Will your heart ever give in?
I give up, you win...

It's your choice now,
To answer, only your heart knows how.

Don't let your mind cover your heart to hide,
Let your heart truly decide.

I don't know what you want from us now,
But I'm willing to try if you show me how.

Please find a way to trust once more,
Get to know the new us before you say no,
Listen to us and let your new feelings show.

We have all been really trying,
And we need you to stop our hearts from crying..

So I ask, will you be there?
Are you still my dad?
Do you still care?

I need us to be a family again forever,
Love us and never say never.
We all love you and hope you love us too.

The poem, A Needed Dad, is a beautiful, heartfelt poem. I have never been in that situation myself, but I now have a feeling of what it could be like. Her words show clearly her raw emotions. God bless the author. I wish her happiness.

Before I was born my mom was strung out on drugs, and my dad was too. Growing up I only had my older sister to guide, and help me. I was in foster care, but then I got adopted. My adopted mom would beat me, almost everyday because of something I didn't do, so I decided to run away. I've been in and out of jail, placements, and group homes for two years now and I'm only 15. I just want to tell everybody out there you are not alone, you have people here for you, you just have to be willing to talk and share your story with others. Don't be ashamed, because what happens to you in life the good and the bad makes you who you are today. You will be stronger, and at the end of the day you will be happy.

On October 17, 2014 my dad decided to take his own life. He left behind 5 children, 2 grandchildren, and a loving wife. We all knew he was struggling but no one would every think that he would take his own life. His children range between the ages of 7-22. We all miss him very much and we wish that he would have just talked to us more. I love you daddy. Rest in peace.

My dad died when I was 13, I am 14. He was in a motorcycle accident, they had to life flight him to Memorial Herman Hospital. He went in to surgery at around 12 pm at around 5 pm the doctor came out and said that he was the sickest person in the hospital and that there was no chance he was going to make it. Two weeks later we had to pull the plug it took him about another week to pass he was buried at the national cemetery in Houston TX. I really miss my dad now that I can't call and ask if he can come eat lunch with me at my school.

Daddy, I miss you all the time you are my mentor and I will never let you go. I hope you back to see me and my brother because we both miss you so much. You promised that you weren't going to leave but it was the best thing for you to do. I want you to know that I love you so much and I will never let you go.
