Hi I'm Steph. I love writing poems and stories. I feel like I can create a new world whenever I write. I love cats, that's what made me write this cute little concrete poem.

                                          I
                               sleep      on
                             your bed, making
                             it my own, and
                              and when you are
                                away, I'm at home
                                all alone. I walk
                             around the food
                          bowl, sniffing out
                        what's there, and  if
                      there's nothing good, I
I look at you and stare. I
curl up near the fire place
                warming up my paws, I
               pounce upon the scratch
              post, sharpening my claws.
I see a mouse in front
              staring straight at me, I
run and try to catch it
                but it runs away from
thee. You see I am so
                    cute, so gorgeous with my
                         fur, when
                          you
                           stroke
                               my
                             head
                               I
                           close my
                         eyes
                 and purr.

My son, age 9, loves all things cat. He's currently taking a drama class and has to read a poem. This is the one he chose. I just hope he can make it through the poem without giggling. He loves this poem!

PS - He has an 11-year-old calico named Shay. They have a special bond, these two. If he walks into the room, she starts to purr, loudly. As a baby, she was always by his side. Now that he's older, she sleeps with him. She has health issues now and has to take pills twice a day. He gently wraps the pills in pill pockets and then cheers her on as she takes them. After, he snuggles her and tells her what a good girl she is. I hope she lives for many years yet because this boy will be devastated when she goes.

Hello Steph, I really love your concrete poem about the nature of cats. Very true, clever, and witty, especially the tail. I've given you five stars! My own darling black and white puss, called Candy, is nineteen years old now. I'm not sure how old that is in human years, but suffice to say she is an old lady like me now! At 3:45am, she is here next to me, curled up and purring loudly.
