Mother Death Poem

In 2001 my Mother was Diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, which is a type of stomach cancer that eats at you from the inside out. Because of her job, she could not make her doctors appointments. Thus, the cancer had spread to her upper and lower intestines, stomach, and breasts. She is my best friend, no doubt. I love you Mommy. Keep smiling, you're beautiful.

If Only For A Moment

Waiting for that day,
when Mommy shows her smile.
If only for a moment,
if only for a while.
Remembering my last memory,
of that time down by the lake.
Of every time she laughed at me,
and every breath she'd take.
I wish to relive those days,
and take away her pain.
Have Mommy's touch upon my face,
and take away this rain.
Waiting for that day,
when Mommy shows her smile.
If only for a moment,
if only for a while.
I want the sun to shine upon her face,
and smile at what I see.
As mommy lets go of this place,
and becomes cancer free.
In this grave, Mommy lays,
resting so sweet.
I'll never forget the life she gave,
Cuz' in me, her heart still beats.
Waiting for that day,
when Mommy shows her smile.
Just for this moment,
just for a while.

  • This doesn't have to be posted if it's not wanted but I just wanted to clear up the definition of Crohn's. Crohn's is NOT a cancer, it is an autoimmune disease - the victims immune system is basically in overdrive and in turn attacks itself. Crohn's can attack any and every part of the digestive system, most often the intestines causing ulceration, perpheration and excrutiating pain. There is no known cure as of yet, but research is getting better, hopefully within the next 10 years they will have determined the cause and therefore be able to find a cure. Crohn's does not have to be fatal but if left untreated or diagnosed, it can be. November 16 2010 I was diagnosed and was rapidly approaching death if something wasn't done. I continue to pray for a cure to stop this debilitating disease. I am now 22 and have a permanent ileostomy - the surgery has saved my life but has not cured me. With Remicade I have been in remission for 7 months at the cost of destroying my immune system.
