Father and Child Poem

A daughter reminds her father of the special times that they've shared.

Daddy!

© Angela N. Halverson

Do you remember the day when I was just a little baby
And you heard my first word, Dada?

Do you remember the nights before I went to bed,
You would carry me up the stairs and say cheek to cheek...?

Do you remember the day we put our doggy to sleep
And I told you everything would be okay daddy?

Do you remember the day I flipped over my handlebars
And you raced through the yards to make sure your little girl was okay?

Do you remember the time we went up north
And that one deer snuck up on us? (Ha ha!)

Well, daddy times are changing,
I'm getting older,
Going into high school soon,
But no matter what,
You will always be my daddy,
And I will always be your little girl!
I love you daddy!
