The young child asked her Granny if they could go to the park and Granny replied, "Of course we can."
The young child asked her Granny if they could do some painting and Granny replied, "Of course we can."
The young child said, "Goodbye Granny,"
As her Mother's car started to drive away, "I love you and I'll see you next time."
"Wait," said Granny, and she ran back upstairs…
She came back down with some new teddy bears and said, "These are for you, child."
She kissed her goodbye.
They waved to each other as the car drove on by.
A few months went by and it was nearly holiday time
The young girl said to her mum, "I can't wait 'til the holidays, I'll be going to Granny's, isn't that right?"
Her mother replied, "Well, of course you are sweetie. "And she put on a smile.
A few days later her mum got a call.
She said hello and she started to talk.
A few minutes later her facial expression changed.
It went from a smile and got rearranged.
She started to cry and she had to sit down.
The girl came from her room to see her mother looking down.
She said, "Mummy, what's wrong?" and her mother looked up and she said with a sigh, "I'm afraid my young child, your granny has died."
The girl said, "No, no mummy this can not be true, how will I ever make it through?"
When Saturday came they got dressed up all nice
They got in the car and drove to the cemetery
When they got there, people were all you could see.
As Kathy started her speech about this great lady's life
The girl felt like she had just swallowed a knife.
As the coffin was lowered the young girl had to cry and she said to her mother, "I don't want to have to say goodbye!"
And this was the end of this lovely old lady.
