Relationship Poem

This was written for a friend whose experiences, and bad luck, were touching and often very frustrating. This friend ended up finding the dream they've longed for.

Evanescent Love

© Chris Carroll
From the fire has your heart been troubled
the burdensome life will have it's own way.
From the ashes you wish to start anew
and hope another dream not fade away.

Through life's window you cast that wary stare
as you face the uncertainty at dawn.
Trying to be mindful of past mistakes
and those horrible pitfalls they would spawn.

For bitterness cast your heart asunder
due meaning of love took form unbeknown.
In the cold darkness of unbowed sorrow
you would be left to find life on your own.

I don't understand evanescent love,
timorous they are your radiant heart.
I believe that it may be your heart's pureness
that causes the impure to fall apart.
