Goodbye Friend Poem

Friendships Change

The first person I met in kindergarten was my BEST friend now. I knew her for 10 years and just about 6 months. Her mom won custody over the grandparents and the mother is not fit to take care of the three kids and neither is the dad. She moved to Florida and is living with the dad and I thought she wanted to come back up here to stay, but she said she wanted to stay a school year there and then come up. When she told me that, I died. I couldn't believe her. She "broke my heart," and she has changed, so I dedicate this to my best friend and hope someday we will meet again.

and laughed and played in the swimming pool.
Our friendship has made it through ten full years,
so here's to us, cheers!!

But now you're miles away,
and for some strange reason you want to stay.
And now our friendship will slowly decay,
and all our memories fade away.
It's sad it had to end this way,
but our friendship has reached its last day...

This is about to be my life. My friend is leaving me for a new home and a new friend, possibly one that'll take my place. I'm happy for her, really, but I'm scared. She's my sister, my family... my courage and past. She holds my fears and secrets, but now she's leaving me.
