I'm Sorry Poem for Friends

I made this poem the day I found out I had lost my best friend forever. It wasn't over death, it wasn't over who I hung out with, it was about me making a stupid choice and going back to an ex boyfriend who Caleb tried to warn me about and tell me he was no good but I didn't listen....I'M SORRY, I should have listened

I'm Sorry

© Tyrsa Goodwin
You know, nothing hurts worse than losing a best friend.
I thought I could confide in you,
Tell you everything, but when I tried to tell you something, something I knew you wouldn't like to hear,
It ended up me losing the best friend I could ever ask for.

I know we had rough times,
I know I did stupid things,
But you were always the one to catch me when I fall,
To help me when I was down.

I still remember the talks, the really REALLY long ones,
The ones where we could just sit and talk about anything that was bothering us,
Whether it been relationships, friendships, or…well anything basically,
I know I didn’t listen,
But I can hear it now, the words that I thought were useless at the time,
But now, as I look back, I realize that if I had listened to them then, I would probably still have someone to lean on.

I wish I had listened,
I wish I had opened my eyes…or ears…and realized that what you told me was the truth,
Even if it hurt me to hear the words coming from your mouth,
I needed to hear the words,
I needed to hear what you had to say, about him, about them, about LIFE.

I'm sorry,
If you don’t want to listen to me,
Then fine,
But just remember, you will always be my best friend.

  • I did something terrible to my friend, I gossiped about him without me knowing it, he found out and he was furious. We talked about the whole thing and at the end, I was given a second chance to proof myself, that I can be trusted again. As from today I am gonna show him how truly sorry I am for hurting him. He is still angry, but it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters to me is renewing my friendship with him.

  • I was sure I had the best friend in the world, but it seemed like we didn't trust each other. Well, actually I didn't trust her and did some stupid things. I mean, not all girls get along, but me and her are now perfectly imperfect. Yes, I'm a girl even though my name is Chris.
