A New Friend

We once never knew each other
We went to different schools
We learned different languages
We are different genders

But then it all changed
When we went to the same school
We were in the same class
We took the same subjects

We started warming up to each other
A smile here, a pat there
Six months later, we were best friends
Always looking out for each other

We partner up in everything
We share our lunch with each other
We always annoy each other
But we're best friends

Don't say that I love him
'Cause I don't feel that way
He's like a brother to me
And I'm like a sister to him

We often get shipped together
But they don't understand
That we aren't forever
But still, people think so

How do we make them understand?
That we are just friends?
Is it that uncommon
For a girl to have a boy friend?
