Long Distance Love Poem

My name is Brandon. I met this girl online. I told myself I'd never get involved in another "e-relationship". But she is so charming, devoted, loving, caring, the list goes on... and it didn't take long for me to break my promise to myself and get involved with her. She has a minor form of Dependent Personality Disorder (DPD), and has been abused and taken advantage of. I feel I'm the only one that will treat her right. She is one of the best things to ever happen to me. I can only pray we finally get to meet someday.

Long Distance Love

© Brandon
How do you wait
At least 3 years
For a possible soul mate
But have no fears

For you, I open my gate
And wish that you were here
But you live in another state
Yet another reason to fear

But I fear because I care
And I care because I love you
It's a kind of love that is rare
And shared by very few

My love, in every form, is undying
And to lose you in anyway, would mean I'm dying
You are a gift greater than everything
And for you, I'll do anything

I'll wait for you, over these next few years
And together we'll overcome our greatest fears

  • I fell in love with a man from another country and I did get to go see him for a short time but I had to come back and all I can do is wait for the day I see him again because it is really hard for him to come here to me, but I pray that God will find a way and bring him to me one day..

  • I am going through the same thing as you writer. I met my boyfriend online, we were friends for a long time, a year and a month to be exact, before we started to date. We had already told each other that we loved each other months before we started to date, but because of the distance and circumstances that we were in, we didn't see how dating could work between us. We talked every night and every day. It started to become to much for me, so one night I plucked up the courage and asked him out, thankfully he said yes. We also have decided to wait a while before we see each other in person (instead of just on Skype), or for us to move closer to each other, since we live in different countries, he lives in the U.S and I live in Canada. I hope we can see each other sooner though. I cried, because your poem is what I want to tell him, but I can never seem to find the right words to tell him exactly how I truly feel. So I tank you for writing this poem, and putting it out there.

  • I met my partner 2 years ago when he was working here in my country. He is from abroad. We have stayed together but for now that he have to back to his country as waiting for a job. But we only get to see each other for certain times and I do go abroad not always. So we both are missing each other so dearly and hoping that someday we never be apart like this. Skyping was the only chance we get to speak and see each other and for me...I will read poems to get my heart at peace and so my love will stay like your love poems here. It helps a lot! tq.laura george.

  • This is a sweet poem. It's accurate I think for many online/long distance relationships. I've been in love with the same guy, 3.6 thousand miles away, for the past 6 and a half years now, and since day one I have had many of these same underlying feelings. It's a hard thing, loving abroad.. For some it requires far too much patience. But the reward promises to be far more fulfilling when one remains separated from their other half for so long.

  • I met Jack in middle school. I thought he has the cutest dimples. I feel in love with that smile. That was that. I saw him 30 years ago and still fell in love with him. We both were married. Now we're both divorced. He lives in Ohio and I in CA. I have been to see him three times. This is so hard on me and I can't wait till that day comes to finally be together. I'm planning on moving back. It's been two years. I hope I can leave sometime this fall. This poem is so right for me.
    Thank you:))
