Father Poem
In memory of a lived well
My Daddy

Angela H. Stafford
My daddy ran a service station most of his life, and he had to put up with a lot of strife My daddy was not only the best dad around, but he was the best car service man around My daddy was known around our area for not only his service station, but for doing people honest, and doing no matter what the job was, he done it right the first time My daddy would spend quality time with us kids even if it meant we could help him at the station, then in slack time we would ride horses, go fishing, or hunting, but we had fun together. My daddy taught us kids our Christian values at our service station My daddy never made much money at our service station, but we were always happy
My daddy always found a way to buy the things we needed for you see he would just stay open longer each day at our service station, even after church on Sunday it was back to our station, but he always made time for God My daddy had our service station for 20 years, then one day he had to give it all up, for all those long and hard days had caught up with my daddy’s health. None of the flat tires or oil changes in bad weather, as well as good weather was worth my daddy’s health. What I miss the most about my daddy was our talks, for he would tell me about when he was young and how he got started in our service station. My daddy was fun to be around. He liked to play games and pranks with us. I still love to look at my daddy’s station, but even more I would love to have my daddy back.
