Growing Up Poem

A mother wishes on her daughter, the same blessing bestowed upon her in her "perfect world".

My Perfect World

© Melinda M. Rogers
I need to run and hide in my world so far away.
Where fairy tales and dreams come true
And your laughter fills each day
In my world
In my perfect world

In this world in my mind you're a child at play
How you loved to play peek-a-boo
Now it's all slipping away
From my world
From my perfect world

From this day you'll go forward
No more looking backward
With your little family you go onward
Keep them safe dear God how I pray

The child that you were is a young woman of today
I pray all your dreams come true
Your children's laughter fills each day
In your world
In your perfect world
