Abuse Poem by Teens

I'm currently 17. When I was little my dad used to physically abuse me by hitting me with a belt whenever I either did something wrong or he was angry about something. He recently died, three years ago, a week before Christmas. My mom now has a boyfriend that emotionally abuses me and neglects me; my mom has started to do the same. Poetry is a way for me to write about my experiences.

Safe Place

In her bedroom closet,
all alone. How simple amazing it is.
People would think it's just an ordinary closet,
but this one is far from it.
The teddy bear,
provides comfort,
for her fear.
Yes, she is hiding in there.
From what exactly may that be?
Well her dad is angry, but you cannot see.
She has no choice but to hide.
Her fear of pain devours her,
like a lion to its prey.
Hopeless and defenseless.
With her teddy bear, she has
no choice but to wait
for the lion, to pounce
on its prey,
a loss, and a
defeat.
