Loss Poem

Being Strong In The Face Of Loss: A Poem Of Strength And Courage

I wrote this poem on the day of my brother's funeral because the whole week I haven't cried because I have to be strong for my family. Though it's hurting me, I know he is proud of me.
This poem is a heartfelt tribute to a brother who has passed away, written by someone who is trying to be strong for their family during a difficult time. It speaks to the theme of inner strength and resilience in the face of loss, and the power of love and memories to help us carry on.

I have to be strong not for me
But for everyone else
I want to cry I want to scream
But no one can see my hollow tears
I keep you near to keep me sane
But the thought of you makes me sad
I want to hide and cry alone
But you are here and it keeps me real
I know you've left this solid ground
But in my heart you still live
You've kept me together for so long
So I will stay strong for everyone else

I'm so sorry for your loss but I promise you the strongest thing you can do is cry WITH your family. Don't stuff it inside trust me I know what I'm talking about. It will either come out later on really bad ways like aggression or depression or it will stay inside you eating you from the inside And you won't be able to get it out when you need to. Your family needs you but crying with them and showing your heartbreak does not mean you are any less there for them.
