Moving On Poem after Death

My Dad passed away after a long battle with Cancer in 2003. I wrote this poem as a tribute in preparation for the 7th year anniversary of his death.

Always With Me

© Amelia Lloyd
I think of you all the time,
Emotions still running on high.
It's been over six years,
Since you went into the sky.

A lot has changed in our lives since then,
But with me you still remain.
My own personal beacon of hope,
Guiding me through this game.

My memories of you will never fade,
The good, the bad, I treasure them all.
Wherever I go, there you are,
Standing by me, though not very tall.

And when I go to sleep tonight,
My eyes will flood with tears.
But I know you'll visit me in my dreams,
And protect me from my fears.

For today is only another day,
No different from the rest.
You'll still be here with me tomorrow,
My Dad, you are the best.
