Falling in Love Poem

I had just started dating a new guy after breaking up with my first boyfriend of 2 1/2 years. He was taking things really slow and I wasn't sure if we were going to continue the relationship or if it was going to end. Though once he finally told me he loved me, everything felt right.

What Do I Mean To You?

© Amanda Russell
Five months have passed,
How far have we come?
I really don’t know,
What am I to become?

A fling? Just lust?
A relationship in the making?
Is ‘girlfriend’ too strong?
My heart is breaking.

The connection we’re losing,
When we are alone together.
If it’s this awkward now,
Imagine us together forever!

You used to sweep me off my feet,
I remember the passion and romance.
But now should we throw in the towel?
Or give it another chance?

What do I tell my friends and family?
When they ask how we are going?
Your status still says your ‘single’
True feelings, you’re still not showing

I still love you deeply,
I pray you feel the same.
Can we rekindle this love?
This is not a game.

An answer, I am waiting,
Goosebumps tickle my skin.
Emotional barriers I no longer want
I want to let you in.

I gaze into your eyes,
Searching deep within your soul.
To see a glimpse of compassion,
I’m about to loose control.

You take a deep breath
Then whisper in my ear
I love you babe…
It’s what I’ve been dying to hear.

All worries subside
As your sweet lips kiss mine
I love your warmth, your touch
Our hearts beating in time.

I now have no doubts,
We are made for each other.
I love you too my darling,
We will be together forever.
