Lost Friend Poem

A ruined friendship because of a stupid lie.

Why Did We Have To Say Good-Bye?

© Coryn
you walked into the light on a very dark night
promising land, promising sun, promising love
then you offered me your hand
I took the hand
such a stupid move of me
and now look where I am
dead and will never see

you have changed me
so very much
I love you with all my heart
but that’s not enough
I want you back
I need to see
that one day
you will love me

you found me on the darkest night
and filled my darkness
with brightness
I can never repay you
for you've done a great deal

then I lied
such a stupid lie
"I’ve never loved you", I said

that changed our friendship
forever and always
and I’m so sorry
my dear friend.
I’m sorry I wasn’t good enough
for you to see
how much I loved you

but for now,
god bless

and R.I.P
my dear friend
I still think of that calming face
