A Poem About Remembering Your First Love

I'm 17 and still have yet to have multiple relationships, but this is what came from my heart a few months after the first one ended.

Will I Forget?

Will I forget your beautiful face?
Will I forget your sweet embrace?
Will I forget how I felt with you?
Will I no longer feel so blue?

No longer am I your love.
We no longer fit like a glove.
No longer shall I hold your hand.
'Tis time to grow up, to be a man.
It will be a most definite trial,
For when I saw you I could run a mile.

Will I forget how to care?
Nothing ever seems to be fair.
Your beautiful face I never want to forget.
But what I want to know is, will I forget?

Forgetting someone you love is like trying to teach a chicken how to fly. It's not in our nature, but it is in our nature to move on and accept what has happened (if we choose to do so). Recently I broke up with the person I thought was my life companion. We were crazy about each other, and nothing could stop us from loving each other. We even got matching tattoos to symbolize how permanent our love was, and now I'm stuck with an infinity sign and his initials on my ribcage but no "him." Besides the fact that he's tatted on my body, I cannot forget him because at some point in time he was my everything.
