I haven't written a poem
Since the last time I was hurt.
I haven't written a poem
Since my heart was ready to burst.
But now you've got me writing,
Not because I'm sad.
Now you got me writing
About things I never had.
I never had someone call me
And tell me they care for me.
I never had anyone
Just stop and stare at me,
And tell me that I'm pretty,
Even when I looked bad,
And tell me that I'm sexy,
And tell me to never be sad.
I've written you these poems
So you would know how I feel.
I want you to know I want you,
And I want you to know I'm real.
