Short Teen Poem

Letting go if the past

The Past

© Tracy
YOU CAN'T HOLD ONTO THE PAST FOREVER
BUT THE PAST CAN HOLD ONTO YOU AS LONG
AS IT WANTS TO.

SOMEONE ONCE TOLD ME THAT LETING GO
IS EASY, I KNOW THAT'S NOT TRUE.

THE MEMORIES STILL REMAIN AS A STAIN
ON YOUR HEART THAT WONT GO AWAY.

DONT LET THE PAST DESTROY YOU, FOR THE PAST
IS JUST AN OLD MEMORY THAT WONT GO AWAY TILL YOU START LETING IT GO.

I WROTE THIS POEM WHEN I WAS 16 YEARS OLD AND I WAS GOING THROUGH A HARD TIME WITH MY FRIEND. I WANT TEENS TO KNOW ITS OK TO WRITE YOUR THOUGHTS DOWN ON PAPER.
