Dear Ann, Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. This is my first time responding to anyone, as I am rather new at this. I know my work is rather elementary, but I am having fun with it. It gives me a warm feeling knowing that someone sees the humor or gets a chuckle out of these simple pieces. From across the ocean I wish you the best. With sincere thanks, Susan

My dad passed away when I was 10. So i know what you are going through. When a loved one passes away it's always the hardest. But, I've learned that you always need to keep your head up. You never know what can happen to you next. So, keep smiling and having a good day. :)

11th April 2024 my darkest time. The day I lost my husband. It's painful I try to be strong for the kids and for myself but all I feel is pain. Am lost and confused loneliness is now what I feel. I did not even get to see him for one last time. He is in Dubai I am in Kenya. He went to work but he won't be coming back to me. There won't be any phone calls, any messages I will not get them anymore. I am not okay.

Thank you so much for the kind outreach, Cynthia, as "I Finally Met Habit" is a personal favorite of mine! I appreciate it more than you know, especially coming from a poet that I admire so much. As we all are I'm sure, I'm still in a learning phase with poetry as it's only been within the last six months that I've truly immersed myself, but poets like you have been essential to my progress. Certainly not all have been or will be hits and connect with others, but I'm sure loving the process and learning so much!

I agree with Ann Stevenson and I'm sure many others that it would be nice to learn more about you personally on your profile, especially being one of the top poets within the FFP community :) I absolutely LOVE the Junk Drawer and The Bear With No Hair, amongst others! Brilliant!!!

Best Wishes and thanks again!
Doug.

You are not alone in your grief of losing a child..I lost my daughter to breast cancer. She was only 28 when she got it..she was newlywed..dreaming of having children..I witnessed her pain that almost drove her insane until she passed away after 4 and a half years. It has been 18 years and I still grieve to this day..no amount of time to heal the wound left by her passing...there is no moving on.. I wish I had died instead of her. You are not supposed to bury your children..I cursed God when she died, I asked Him why..why did this happen to my daughter..I'll give my life for her..to save her..I went through major depression..none of those medications prescribed by those shrinks helped. Finally I went to confession, being catholic. I was told that God has plan for her. I went back to being religious but my grieving remains. My final wish is to save those people suffering from cancer..CANCER sucks!

There's nothing like getting it down on paper. I have found Family Friends a great place to share my thoughts and feelings. I look forward to reading more of your poetry. Best wishes. Ann
