  1. My Everything

    • By Dean Coombes
    • Published by Family Friend Poems February 2013 with permission of the Author.

She is/was my first love. We have recently separated after a 7 year relationship. I still love this girl more now than I did when we first met. She is the most kind, loving, and thoughtful person in the world, and I wanted to share with everyone what she means to me. I'm hoping by sending this poem to her she can just understand what she means to me and how much I love her.

    in Sweet Love Poems

    You're my love, my life,
    The air that I breathe.
    You're my soul, my happiness,

  16. Can't Accept That You're Gone

My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February of 2007, and for 3 years he tried to fight this killer, but the cancer won. I miss him every day, and I write to help me through my pain. This is just a poem I wrote describing how I feel. He has been gone a year and a half now, and even though I was by his side when he died, I still cannot even for a minute believe he is really gone. Love and miss you, Dad. You are my Angel.

  18. Spring

    • By Camille Gotera
    • Published by Family Friend Poems December 2013 with permission of the Author.

The reason I wrote this poem was because I absolutely hate winter and love spring time. This is mostly because everything is dead in the winter- there's no life. And I'm a very sensitive person, so just the atmosphere of winter makes me sad. Another reason is because I had been through a bad experience- relationship wise- over the winter, and I feel that spring time is a clean new start. No more depressing poems and songs! :)

    in Spring Poems

    Analysis of Form and Technique

When the cold, harsh winter has given its last breath,
When the sky above shows life instead of death,
When the claws reaching to the frozen sky become decorated with leaves,
When the animals -long in hiding- scurry from trees,

  19. If Only I Knew

    • By Sennette Gaoses
    • Published by Family Friend Poems February 2014 with permission of the Author.

I wrote this emotional poem when I started thinking about the things regarding my sister Mencia Gawanas that I took for granted. I thought that she'd always be around, so there were all these things that I thought I would always have. I thought she'd always text me, or smile at me, or call me. I thought I would have her in my life forever. Alas, God had a different plan for us. I just wish I knew that I would have her for so little a time, for she was only 20.

  20. Just Like

This poem is all about using similes. The poet compares her situation to various objects. Our experiences in life can be compared to objects. For example, if someone is bright and cheery, we might compare her to a ray of sunshine. If someone is mean, we might compare those words to the hiss of a snake.
