Blurred Vision

Published: January 2009

As I watch the horizon blur, I wipe you from my eye
I've seen you here before, lately you've stayed close by
The lady that I know as mom has returned to the Lord's dust
Creating a whole no one can fill, but in the Lord I trust
Trusting in the Lord will not keep the tears away
Or the rage that I keep bottled up, this depression is here to stay
I Know one day I will see you again and I know you are in a better place
But I must see your face some day I can not wait until God's grace.
My horizon is blurred, I know not what to do
I wipe the tears out of my eyes put on my socks and shoes
The journey I will take will be to that blurred horizon
So I can take you out oh tears and leave you for the Lions
Because if she were her she would say "Joel don't you cry"
And for this I will cry no more, I will hold my tears inside.

I lost my father November 23, 2014. I try remembering him all that I can, but I never really knew him. We used to go fishing and wait for the sun to set, no words were ever said. Our hearts were the only ones talking and beating to the warm and touching blazing sun. My vision of him is blurred just like the poem.
