Sister Poem

Depend On Me I Will Always Be There

Jenny is the sister I begged my mother for daily. We are both grown now, and I need her as much now as I did then. I nicknamed her Wren when she was little. The poem stands true; she is forever my Jenny Wren and my friend.

My Jenny Wren

Published: December 2008

You with you dark brown hair and your glistening eyes,
the gift I would receive and felt it was just for me.
You are my Jenny Wren, forever you will be.
I will climb on the couch and hold you close,
read you stories and squeeze your nose.
I promise to love you and keep you safe
with me forever my Jenny Wren you will be.
As you get older and venture along
I will be there to help you belong.
You'll meet new people and wonder about,
but I will be there to help you out.
There will be times that I will feel you don't want me,
but forever my Jenny Wren you will be.
When life is hard and seems so unfair,
depend on me; I will always be there.
I'll hold your hand when your babies are born
and hold you close when our mother we mourn.
When there are times you don't see me,
know one thing; my Jenny Wren you'll be.
