Do I Have Time For Me?

Published: February 2006

Do I have time for me?
After I cook and clean
and be all that I can be
I'm beat!
Trying to keep a house neat
living in defeat, feeling trapped
think I might snap
if I don't get some time, something of mine
just a minute, hold on
I'm trying to stay strong
but it won't be long before I break,
I need a break
another second I can't take.
Can you relate?
Do you get up early and come home late?
Do you have time to read a book?
I can't,
I have to cook
or take a look at some homework,
can't take home my own work, 'cause the baby's crying.
She needs a bath and I just laugh
'cause if I don't, I'll cry, and I can't lie
this is hard and I'm scarred from the hot water,
why bother to sweep and mop the floor,
Somebody's at the door.
Sit down...don't play around
Did you make up your bed? Did you do what I said?
I want to sleep in, and that's just the weekend,
no quality time spent, gotta pay the rent,
I need something for me, gimme back my sanity
'cause it's gone and it won't be long,
just one blink and I can't think...
did I eat?
Do I have time for me?
After I cook and clean and be all that I can be
I'm beat!
