Abuse Poem by Teens

I am only 12 years old and I wrote this poem about my father beating my mother. I only live with my mom and sister. My father is now dead to me. I was snooping around my mothers room and found papers and pictures from court. After reading it I cried. I hope you like it, and like I said I'm only 12 so it may not be as great as a 36 year old's poem. But, I truly hope you enjoy it.

I'm Sorry I Couldn't Save You

Published: March 2011

I know your secrets
of that fatal night
He beat you while we slumbered
We couldn't hear your screams for help
We didn't know he was hurting you
I'm so sorry
I could have been the one to save you
Before that evil man I used to call dad
hurt you
Now you pretend nothing ever happened
and he goes on knowing what he did and not caring
I can only imagine what would've happened if he didn't stop
after all the blood and tears of a soon to be dead women
if that evil man didn't stop
you wouldn't be around to hear me call you mom
and you would be deep in the ground
without any words or freedom
I'm sorry he hurt you
and I'm sorry I couldn't be the one to save you.
