Her mother is abusive and she is no longer living with her, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't love her.

This poem is very good. you seem very strong and mature. I'm sorry you've had to go through this, but it's good that you're learning from your experiences no matter if they're negative. Stay...

Life Goes On!

Published: February 2006

The question in life is are you free,
Or are you locked up, just like me?
I've tried to be good; I've tried to be pretty
But my mom, she doesn't care she just doesn't see
I do well in school, I have good grades
But the only thing she says is I'm not your maid.
I take care of my brother, as she goes out,
And comes home in the morning, there is no doubt.
She spends all of her time drinking and smoking,
And when she drives she swerves while choking.
I'm not like other kids, I don't do drugs,
I don't smoke or drink, I keep it at HUGS!
It's not like she'd care if I went and got drunk,
But I want a good job, and I don't want to flunk.
I respect the fact that she is my mother,
And that is the reason why I Love her.
But how she treats us is cruel and unfair,
She should at least try to love us; she should at least try to care.
I realized the stress and stood up tall
That's when I noticed I'm something after all!
I live with my dad but I still love my mom,
The words that sum it up are LIFE GOES ON!
So I sucked up the pain and tried to stand strong
For I was not the one who is doing any WRONG!
