Fear Poem by Teens

Poem About Fear Of Getting Older

I'm about to turn fourteen in a couple of days and I'm dreading it. I decided to express my feelings. It's about the fear of aging another year.

My Birthday

Soon will be my birthday.
It's just around the corner.
Soon I will be fourteen,
A little girl no longer.

The days I should be looking for
Are drawing ever closer.
I turn my head and close my eyes and hope it will be over.

I'm not excited or happy at all.
Fourteen's the year I'm a little girl no more.
With no money, it won't be much of a birthday at all.

Two years not far away, I'll have to learn to drive.
Two years after that, I'll be kicked out of home.
Two years after that, I'll be expected to have a degree.

Not at all the little girl.
Big things will be expected of me.

Quite a surprise. We have to grow up one day and responsibilities are always there every step of our lives. The thing is sometimes responsibilities are good since your parents give you a chance to live out of poverty and drug abuse or anything that can ruin your life. They give you a chance to help out your family and to prove to them you that you deserve their trust and when you gain trust, believe me you will enjoy the responsibilities. Accept and you will enjoy growing up and life is not always tough if you stand to your responsibilities.
