My Grandma

Published: February 2006

Grandma, you said what you wanted with paper and a pen,
If we couldn't read it, you would write it over again,
You woke us up each morning with the clapping of your hands,
Country music on the radio, and the banging from the pans,
Nighttime at your house is a memory we will always keep,
You would scratch our backs all night or until we fell asleep.
I remember every Christmas party,
When Mom and Dad went out you would give us a present early
Just so we wouldn't pout.
Grandma, you're in Heaven now and we miss you more each day,
But all that we can do now is close our eyes and pray.
We pray that when the time comes and we are grandmas too,
We pray that God makes three grandmas half as sweet as you.
I love you, Grandma! Love, Lorenda
