Goodbye Friend Poem

Poem Saying Goodbye To Someone I Care About

I recently had to say goodbye to a friend. I'm coping with the sadness of that experience in the only way I know how: writing a poem. That's why I wrote this poem, What You've Meant to Me. It explains what my friend meant to me in the three years I knew them.

What You've Meant To Me

You're officially gone.
You were such a good friend;
I can't believe that it's come to an end.

You were here for years,
Staying by my side,
Even when I wanted to hide.

We had so many meetings,
Full of smiles and tears.
You were always there for anything
That I couldn't bear.

Between school and homework,
You always had a hand to lend;
With family and friends,
You helped me around so many bends.

We've talked for hours
About so much stuff,
Because on my mind,
There was always more than enough.

You showed me the base
When I had lost my place,
And helped me find the rope
When I had lost all hope.

I guess my point would be,
Whether I see you tomorrow or in ten years,
Your friendship will always mean so much to me.
