Holidays are not the same when a family member isn't there and the family drifts apart.

But When You Left

Published: February 2006

Every year for Christmas
our family came together,
the children played
while the parents talked.
Christmas was always my favorite day
out of the year,
but not just for the gifts,
I loved being with the whole family.
But when you left so did everyone else,
some moved to different cities,
while others moved to another state.
Now we get together on Christmas Eve,
but it's just a few of us.
If only you were here,
we could all be together again.
But when you left...
So did Christmas.
