With Each Passing Day

With each passing day,
I try and try again,
Trying to fix myself,
Getting my heart to mend.
It's difficult, though,
Doing it on my own,
Fixing a shattered heart,
Living all alone.
I know I'm not really alone,
It just feels that way.
I know you're by my side
Every single day,
But it's not the same,
For you're truly not mine,
But I keep standing here,
Waiting on time.
It grows harder,
I grow weak at the knees.
I'd do anything for you
Do the same for me, please?
This all hurts,
Brings on unbearable pain.
You are the love of my life
I thought I never would gain,
But I found it,
And with it came you.
You showed me great things,
A love so true.
And now it feels gone.
Where do I start?
I'm left here standing,
A gaping hole in my heart.
Just as I promised,
I'll always be here,
Either right by your side,
Or someplace very near.
I'll always be around,
For you still have my heart.
It will always be yours,
It was from the start.
