He was the geeky kid, carrying all of his books,
That became a scientist who found the cure for the disease that overtook.

She was the quiet one, who was afraid no one would listen to what she had to say,
Who is now the author that writes her words for thousands to read on a page.

He was the naughty boy, whose antics were a cry for help,
That became a cop because he knows how it felt.

She was the nervous, anxious girl, who took on everyone's problems,
That wanted to help others and became a psychologist with a doctorate.

He was the kid that was always in a fight,
Who became a lawyer that wants wrong turned right.

He was the jock that was under pressure to win the game,
Who became a pastor that tells people they are more than what others say.

She was the quirky girl trying to break free from the mold,
That became the fashion designer who is known for being bold.

She was the mean girl with only ugly words to say,
Who is now an advocate for other victims in pain.

But he was the kid that faded into the background,
The one who felt alone even when there was a crowd.

The one who felt like he was gasping for air.
Even though he was drowning; people were unaware.

He was the one whose inner demon had a voice that was too loud,
That told him there was no other way out.

He's the kid I often think about,
The one whose silence should have been a reverberating volume of sound.

He is the one that we'll never know what he could have become,
Because he was the kid who found the gun.

Crazy, crazy on the wall
Are you the craziest of them all?
What you doing with that knife?
Why'd you want to end your life?

Nutter, nutter on the roof
What are you, some kinda goof?
Can't you just pull yourself together?
And not end it all forever?

Looney, looney tying that rope
If you're feeling low, just smoke some dope
We all feel sad now and then
But this depression bull isn't attractive to men

Freak, freak, lying in bed
I know you don't really want to be dead
Just a cry for attention from a drama queen
Stop it! Grow up! You're no longer a teen

Maybe if you didn't say this stuff
I'd get help instead of trying to act tough
Stigma has crushed and hurt
So please think before you blurt

I want to paint a picture;
it's a scene that you should see.
If you decide to end your life,
what becomes of your family?

First, someone has to find you.
It will be a haunting sight,
Filled with panic and hysteria,
Screaming out in fright.

Maybe they will find you
Before you're actually dead.
Instead of going to the morgue, 
A hospital instead.

To the tiny hope that you'll survive,
They'll cling with all their might
Until a doctor tells them sorrowfully
You won't make it through the night. 

The next few days will be a blur.
A funeral is planned,
People come from out of town,
Neighbors lend a hand.

The house is full of people
To console your mom and dad.
Your little sister sits alone,
Feeling lost, confused, and sad.

But then the house gets quiet,
After everyone has gone,
They'll try to fill the silence,
Find a way to carry on.

They'll do their best to live their life,
The way it was before.
They'll eat their dinners at the table,
But there’s no talking anymore.

Soon your parents will start fighting.
Their marriage begins to wilt.
They'll cast blame upon each other,
Yet be consumed with their own guilt.

Your sister will feel lonely,
As your parents try to cope.
She wants to be a family,
But she's starting to lose hope.

Fast forward two years down the road,
Your sister's skipping class,
Your father looks for comfort
In the bottom of a glass.

Your mom uses medication
To try and ease her pain.
Pops pills by the handful,
She will never be the same.

A house once filled with love and laughter,
Feels cold and dark and sad.
Your sister's full of anger
Because you took her mom and dad.

Soon your dad stops coming home at night,
Your mom leaves her room no more.
Your sister's desperate cries for help
Are unheard behind closed doors.

Then your sister gives up fighting,
Can no longer stand the strife.
If only you were there,
You could probably save her life.

Your family now is shattered,
And it started all with you.
The loss of 1 child crushed them,
And now they have lost 2.

So before deciding to end your life,
I hope that you can see
The tragic ending of your family
Is what will come to be.

You see a family is like a puzzle,
An imperfect piece of art.
If you start removing pieces,
Soon the whole thing falls apart.

But this picture that I've painted,
Full of darkness, death, and dread,
Still has a chance to replaced
With a happy one instead.

There are people who will help you,
You just have to use your voice.
At least give them a chance,
Before you make a deadly choice.

Why did this happen?
I can't believe this.
She laid there restless
With a gash on her wrist.
I ran to her in panic...she made no sound
My heart began to uncontrollably pound.
Tears streamed down my face
I began to shake.
Thoughts were running through my mind
PLEASE HELP FOR HEAVENS SAKE!!
There was nothing I could do
There was nothing I could say
I knew this was the end
She lay there breathless...dead..

I can't take it, it's come to me.
That this life wasn't meant to be.
As I take this choice and let myself go.
I think to myself, how you'd say no!
How you'd hold me close and tell my you care.
It's just too bad you couldn't be there.
It's not your fault, at least you tried.
Now all you can do is sit there and cry.
Remember the times we shared.
Remember I always cared.

You were like a brother to me,
My very best friend.
You said you would always be there.
You promised we would never end.

I remember when we were three.
You said you would always be there for me.
I guess what you say and do are two different things,
When it comes to me and you.

I know I can't blame it on you,
What else am I supposed to do?
Why did you do it?
Make yourself die?
We could have talked it over.
Made it all right.

Some people say it's going to be all right.
I pray for you every single night.
Hoping that you'll come back to me,
But it's impossible, don't you see.

I know you'll be with me until I die.
Then we'll be reunited up in the sky.
Even though now we aren't together,
In the heavens we will be reunited forever...

Hand shakes silently as I reach for the knob
Pull my hand back, I'm too weak to do it
Turn to walk away before I remember
I'm doing this for me, I'm doing this for you
Close my eyes and count slowly to ten
You taught me this trick to help my panic attacks
Peel my eyes open and glare at the wooden door
Too long this room has terrified me
Too long its given me nightmares
Slowly I reach for the knob again
Twist it as slowly as humanly possible and push
Now I stand in the darkened doorway
Is it just me or did it just get colder?
I reach for the light switch
As soon as I turn on the light, I close my empty eyes
Count to ten again before opening them
See my reflection in the mirror and frown
How long have I looked this sick?
Suddenly my eyes find what I came to see
My breathing quickens as I flash back to that day
When I was ten and opened the bathroom door
And saw you floating there in the red water
Dressed in your pretty little white dress
Now stained red from the water
Kitchen knife covered in dark red on the counter
Snapping back to reality, I realize I'm crying
Stuck here in an empty bathroom six years later
Stuck here wondering what I did wrong
Why I made you unhappy
And what a little girl could've done to have her mom say goodbye

When darkness falls you can not see the light.
Your breathe is heavy as sweat drips from your brow
and blurriness blinds your sight.
You start to have second thoughts,
your life replays in your mind.
You try to remember much happier times.
You hold the trigger so very tight,
your body quivers but you start to question yourself if what your doing is right.
You grab a knife from the kitchen drawer,
you cut yourself slightly and the blood starts to fall.
Before going further you rethink what you have done,
your hearts beating faster now
and instead of finishing you put on a bandage and you start to run...
To the highest mountain top you scream out loud,
cursing the gods with an angry wolves howl.
The tears are now falling down your face
as you are now questioning your own given fate.
Everything you dream of has yet to come true,
you look in the mirror at the person that is you.
You take your fist and you smash it upon your head,
you take your pain pills and you go to bed......The End

Hush.

It is quiet,
So very quiet.
I am left alone now.
No longer to hear your voice
It is so...so very quiet.

Snippets of memories flash before me,
Like a kaleidoscope with multi-dimensional, brilliant colors.
No rhyme or reason in their placement, yet when they fall into place,
They form a beautiful pattern of colorful hues.

I am transfixed.

There are no answers as to why you are gone,
But like the kaleidoscope, your brilliance left patterns on this earth
For those of us left behind.

It is what we do with your brilliance that matters - because you matter.

And as the randomness of the colorful images takes shape,
The transformation of the images becomes something beautiful.
I can reflect in the quiet of the moment - nothing left to say,
For I believe in my heart there is only peace.

Hush.
It is so quiet,
So very...very quiet.

As I hold hands with this hooded person.
His hands as cold as ice,
his black eyes as dead as night.
He leads me to an overpass and tells me how to forget about the past.
As the words trust me slip out of his cold dead lips,
I reached up and gave him a kiss.
I pulled his hood off and it revealed a girl,
I said ok take me away from this world.
She said step of the over-pass so you can let go of your past.
As I step of the edge I fell towards the earth.
I remember all my life while I was in mid-flight.
Then I forgot it all at the end of the fall.
As I land on the highway I died that very day.
I looked ahead and a light revealed the gates of heaven and I realized it was the end.

The morning sky is colored red with blood.
Meaning that someone died last night.
I wonder why. This morning casts a foul mood.
Something seems off today; this doesn't feel right.

Was it me that died?

I hear a presence, creeping closer and closer,
Dead silent but clear as day.
He appears before me pale as the moon.
A melancholy look on his face, he speaks.

Another one who just didn't see
How good your life would have been.
If just for a few years had you waited
Before ending your life you so much hated.

Look at what you had! Lost now forever.
I can't see why you're so sad.
You weren't alone, nor were you too bad
of a person to seek a second chance.

It's clear now I made a mistake unthinkable.
Wasted my life with a knife.
It seemed then so unbearable,
But now I'm even more miserable.
Last tears of a dying man.

Life shattered in an instant
Like fragmenting glass before his eyes
Everything seemed so perfect
Until it became full of lies

Now he had many options
Of only one he had to choose
But no matter what he decided
He knew he would always lose

Every time it happened the same
All would be going right
But in the end he was to blame
When it crashed into the night

He had to make a choice now
Or life would just end
If he didn't Satan would bow
And say "good game my friend"

Taken from a dream,
And placed in what I call reality.
Scattered hearts lay about
Waiting to be fixed again.
Scars lay upon the skin of those
Who cry for help.
No one to care.
Asleep with their minds
They think they're trapped.
They are.
Not a soul to help them out
But the ones that are
There with them.
Single tears fall from those
Who know it's pointless;
Pointless to prove to others
That all we need is help.
They walk away...
With not a fear that
I might die.

I feel so alone.
I'm hopeless in life,
I try to be happy but only find it with a knife.
It slips through my wrists and flows from my veins,
a crimson waterfall that's born from pain.
 
Happiness is a concept burned from my soul,
this beautiful entity now covered in shadow,
will slip from this body that's been used as a tool,
for sex,
drugs,
I'm a worthless fool.

I died once!

As I hung in the air, I thought about life of those who do care,
my mother and farher,
partner,
friends and my pup,
those whom I loved and knew one day we'd meet up,
but I was cheated of that blessing and brought back to this cruel world,
overrun with rapists back into the cold.

Now I live in the shadows,
my cries being covered with smiles.
Twenty-four hours being watched,
endless nights being touched,
friends to hold my hand, future plans,

and yet....
I feel so alone!

You thought of all of your problems
Then you thought of your pain
This went on for years and years
Eventually you went insane.
Sunk into a deep depression
You never failed to hide.
Fake smiles made us think you were okay.
Fake laughs to erase our doubt.
You were dying inside and couldn't find a way out.
One last goodbye, to your best friend,
your sisters, your mother.
For it was the end.
Walked up to your bedroom, feeling 20 feet tall.
You took the tie, put it around your door,
Then ended it all.
My big brother found you,
cold and without breath.
I remember my Mom getting the call.
Big brother came home, tears on his face.
Went into his room and just stared at the wall.
We couldn't believe it.
You were a son, a brother, and a loving friend.
19 was too early for it to end.
I don't remember if I even got to say goodbye.
But I hope you know I love you, I wish I could see your happy face.
The years have gone by, and I try to remember such little things.
Your smile, the way you talked, all the jokes we had.
I write down memories of those happy times, when we were all together.
I know that I will never get to see you again.
But even though you're gone now,
You will always stay in our hearts,
My best friend.
