I Love My Family Poems

It is common misconception that love is developed with unconditional love and understanding. Well that is one kind of love. But how come there is often so much friction in our family relationships? People are always saying, "oh, my sister and I, we fought like cats and dogs". Friction in relationships is an opportunity to realize our differences and accept that although we can never fully understand each other, nonetheless we accept and love each other.

  1. 1. A Family Is Like A Circle

    • By Nicole M. O'Neil
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2006

What is a family? Each of the first 3 stanzas uses a different simile to explain how deep and lasting the connection between family members is. Similies are figures of speech that expresses a resemblance between things of different kinds, using the word like or as.

A family is like a circle.
    The connection never ends,
and even if at times it breaks,
    in time it always mends.

A family is like the stars.
    Somehow they're always there.
    Families are those who help,
    who support and always care.

A family is like a book.
    The ending's never clear,
but through the pages of the book,
    their love is always near.

    A family is many things.
    With endless words that show
who they are and what they do
and how they teach you so you know.

But don't be weary if it's broken
or if through time it's been so worn.
    Families are like that -
they're split up and always torn.

    But even if this happens,
    your family will always be.
They help define just who you are
and will be a part of you eternally.

  3. 2. Family

My poem demonstrates the importance of family. Sometimes we take them for granted without even realizing it. They are the ones who are there when no one else is. No family is perfect, but they were given to you for a reason. So saying "I love you" more often can soften a difficult day, and a little hug can go a long way in expressing a heart of gratitude toward those you love.

    The Importance Of Family

God gave each of us a special family
that we can call our own.
A family that loves us for who we are
so we would never feel alone.

They may not like everything we do
    or everything we say,
but the beautiful thing about "family"
is that they love us anyway.

    Sometimes we feel rejected
by people who do not care,
but our hearts are warmed when remembering
that our family is always there!

So hug them a little more often,
for sometimes we hurt the ones we love.
And tell them how much you love them,
for they were sent to you from above.

  5. 3. Not A Day Goes By

    • By April M. Dawson
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2006

Poem about deep love for someone. Whether it's our children, siblings, parents, or spouse, it's always the right time to tell them how much they mean to us. This poem says it all.

    Poem For A Loved One

    Not a day goes by
that I don't wish you knew how much I love you.
    Not a day goes by
that I don't wish better for you.
My love is like a river - it is like a fountain; it is longing and flowing for you.
No matter what hard times we've been through,
my love has kept on growing for you.
    I hope you can see
that it is you I need.
I know we are bound for a higher life,
where we won't bear any more strife.
Yet, in the still of this life,
    not a day goes by
that I'm not praying for you
    and still loving you.

  6. 4. My Rose Never Faded

    • By Lewis Beesinger
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems October 2008

My father in law wrote this to my mom and it all comes from the heart. He is a great man loved by his family and friends and still so full of love and life, just a great person.

Poem To Loving Wife Of Many Many Years

    While walking through seventeen
I picked a bright red rose.
I was living wild and reckless; it changed my life, I suppose.
A blue ribbon winner with its brilliant flare.
Its beauty was enchanting like a breath of mountain air.
I kept it near my heart, red velvet all aglow.
Why God gave me this gift I guess I'll never know.
Withstanding troubled times and a heartbreak now and then,
But the rose never wilted amazing me once again.
Roses bloom in their season then die and fall apart.
My rose kept on living, rooted deep within my heart.
My days are growing short now; I have lived a fulfilled life.
The rose I picked when I was young is my fateful loving wife.
She gave me three sons and they filled my bouquet.
Pride and pleasure overflowed to see them blossom day by day.
We have grown old together and my heart is still elated after all the years gone by.
    My rose never faded.

    For my Loving wife

  7. 5. My Family, My American Dream

    • By Robert Tadlock
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2006

A heartfelt Poem from a husband and dad depicting his love for his family, his children and his wife, through the passage of time.

Love Of A Father And Husband For His Family

If I took the time to list,
    all my loves in life.

    I'd start with my moments,
    with my kids and wife.

    Summers come and summers go,
they seem to move too fast.

Life with them is so complete,
and I thank God for my past.

    Sometimes when I'm at work,
    and things are really slow.

I'll think of them at home,
and wish that I could go.

I'll watch them when they're sleeping,
    hold them when they cry.

I'll always be there for them,
    until the day I die.

I like to make them smile,
    their laughter warms my heart.

    I don't know what I would do,
    if we were torn apart.

    They're my greatest inspiration,
    in everything I do.

I've but three words for them,
and that is I love you.

My life with them is like a rainbow,
    arched high above a stream

My life with them is my version
    Of living the American Dream

  8. 6. A Grandparent's Love

    • By Tina Williams
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2006

The memories of childhood are never forgotten and are often in the forefront of our minds.

    It seems like only yesterday
    Our lives were just beginning.
Your love for us never failed,
    Our hearts continually mending.

It is strange to watch the time fly
    Before our very eyes,
Which reminds me of the blessing,
That we have you in our lives.

To have yet to feel the touch
That's as gentle as your hand
    The closeness of our family
    One could never understand.

    As each of our lives
    Continue to change,
    Reflections of your love
    In each of us remains.

You have pointed out the path
    And led us along the way;
    The wisdom you have planted,
    We each still hold today.

    You sheltered us through childhood
    And saw us through today,
Taught us of the Lord above,
About faith, and how to pray.

One day we'll all be in heaven
    Dancing on the throne,
    Praising God for giving us
A family like we've never known.

No matter where our lives may go,
We will trust the Lord above
And through it all always thank him for our grandparents' love.

  9. 7. Daddy's Little Girl

    • By Shawna
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 2007

Every father would love to hear that they are their child's hero. This poem is for my dad, he hasn't read it yet. But when he does I really hope he likes it!

    Love For Father From Daughter

Ever since I was little you were right by my side
Even though it may not always have been the right decision you were always along for the ride
I never realized how important you were to me until I left home
Now my eyes light up every time that you call my phone

You and mom were so young when I came
I can't even imagine how things must have changed
You weren't like other young dads who get up and walk out
You stayed by our side without a doubt

I am so much like you in everything that you do
I have always been like that even as a little girl too
I remember getting up early and going to work with you all day
No matter how boring it was with you I would stay

It sucks that it took moving out to see how much you meant to me
It's amazing how much it made me open my eyes and see
If anything ever happened to you I don't know what I would do
How I truly feel is one thing I have never told you

All little kids have that one person they look up to
That one person that can do no wrong no matter what they do
You are my hero and you always have been
Not only are you my dad but my best friend

This poem explains the love a father has for his children.

    The pleasure I gain
    From being a Dad
    Is down to my children,
    All three that I've had.

    The love that I cherish
    For each one I hold.
    Their eyes give a sparkle
    like flickering gold.

    I live for their presence.
    I'd die come what may.
As the ground that they walk on
    I worship each day.

    My love just grows stronger
    Each day that goes by.
I will love my three children
Till the day that I die.

A poem about a mother who decides to appreciate her most precious gift instead of what happens all too often.

Poem About Enjoying Time With Children

Just for this morning I won't wash clothes,
instead we will watch your favorite cartoon.
Just for this morning I won't wash dishes,
    instead we will color together.
    Just for this afternoon I won't watch my soaps;
instead we will go to the park and feed the ducks.
Just for this afternoon you and I will snuggle up on the couch
and watch a favorite movie and eat popcorn.
Just for tonight I will let you help me fix dinner
and I won't yell at you for making a mess.
Just for tonight I won't yell
when you splash water all over the bathroom floor.
Just for tonight when I tuck you into bed
and we snuggle together to read your favorite story
I will hold you a little tighter and a little longer
and Thank God for giving you to me.

  12. 10. In Your Eyes

    • By Megan Smith
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2006

Look in the person's eyes who you love. What do you see?

What Eyes Tell About A Person Poem

You can see all in a person's eyes.
Their pain, guilt, happiness, sadness, fear.
It's all there, if you just take the time to look.
In your eyes I see someone unlike any other,
A strong soul, brave, with a big heart,
Blessed with the gift to bring happiness and laughter.
With open arms embracing every day to the fullest,
A spirit fit to soar with the eagles, wild and free.
Never to let the impending day's work bring her down.
This spirit will live on forever,
In the eyes of your children, grandchildren, and so on.
You've given us all a gift,
The most wonderful gift you could give, your love.
And now, I see in my eyes a part of you,
Because you are in my heart forever and for always.

  15. 13. Just You And Me

This is a poem inspired by my beautiful wife, the answer to my prayers and the breath that gives me life. We all must pass through trying times, but to try without my Pammy would be impossible. I am and will be dedicated and devoted to her for life.

    Poem About Devotion To Wife

I promise my devotion, honest and true
I would give up life just for you.

I am at times without words to say,
But I never forget to tell you that I love you each day.

I was a child who had not much in life until one fall day.
That was when God sent me you and you helped me to find my way.

We were young, and I could not drive,
But just to walk and talk with you made me feel so alive.

I would place you on my shoulders and carry you home from school.
A half mile walk it was; I did it for love and not to be cool.

I would run from my home to yours every day,
And while I was running, do you know what I prayed?

I prayed to God that if I ran all the way
That God would make you my wife someday.

God did answer those prayers, it's true,
Because I was blessed and able to marry you.

Now here we are in trying times.
Please don't give up, let's pray and I trust that we will be fine.

I am so blessed to have known you in this life.
Please don't give up; I love you my wonderful wife.

We have been together in love for so long.
To give up now would just be so wrong.

Just look at our names, and it easy to see
We were meant to be together, just you and me.

To many, it's Pam and Dan; yep that's me and you,
But I swear, to my Pammy that Danny will always be true.

I love you Pammy, that can't you see?
Without you, my Pammy, there is no me.

  16. 14. Family

    • By Alice Sukuna
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems April 2019

It is an Acrostic poem that spells out FAMILY. I'm a shy person who doesn't like talking to people much, or simply put, I'm usually lonely and emotional too. But my sister and my parents still do love me for the person I am and encourage me any way possible. So in this poem, I wanted to show and prove to others that no matter what happens, the only people who'll always love you is your family. They are an irreplaceable existence.

    Precious Family Acrostic Poem

    Forever together,
    Alone no more.
Many precious memories, which gives out an
    Indescribable feeling of
    Love, affection and gratitude, as
    You are my precious family.

A prayer for love and a prayer for prayer.

    Today I woke up
And said a prayer for you
I prayed that you'd forgive me
For all the stupid things I do

I prayed for a love to find you
A love so pure and true
A love that will never die
Like the love I feel for you

I said a prayer for the ones you love
And the ones that love you
I prayed that you'd see the sky
    In all it's beautiful blue

    A prayer in my mind
    A prayer in the air
    A prayer soaring up
    without a care

I made up my mind to say a prayer
    Each and every day
A prayer that you'd find happiness
    in every single way.

A message about the nature of love

    Poem About Sharing Love

    How does love grow?
    Everyone should know!
    It's a gift of giving,
Which we hope to keep receiving.
    It comes from the heart,
    And should never be apart.
    We share it with feelings,
    It's so unbelieving!
But yet, it can be deceiving.
    We should always remember,
    From January to December,
    As the years go by,
    The love should never die.
    This is a message that I am sending;
    To love one another,
    Especially your Mother and Father.
They showed you how to love,
    Like the Lord up above.

Poem About Love For A Mother

    Mum, as from the start

I can't tell you how much I care
There are so many things I would love to share

There are so many ways I could say I LOVE YOU
And I know you think the same too
I can't begin to explain how happy I am when I see your face
I'm so glad that I live at your place

I love that sweet smell on your pillow

  22. 20. Feeling Thankful For My Children

    • By Sandra L. Wilkins
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2006

A woman is grateful for her children in her life. She realizes that it's not so important what the weather is or other unimportant details.

I woke up this morning and
    pondered way too loud.

Will today be clear and sunny,
    or like a nimbus cloud?

All of a sudden I realized,
    this wasn't important at all.

    In the big picture altogether,
this one thought seemed so small.

I thought then of my children,
and a smile came to my face.

    The sentiment of my memories,
took me to a higher place.

    Their funny little antics and
    endless questions,
    Mommy, why?

    Had me laughing quite hysterically,

    I began to cry.

I thanked God for my fortune,
    and decided then and there.

    Whether or not
    rained or shined,

    I did not really care.
