  1. 41. The Bulls Of Bickerton Lane

My home sits on a three acre property that abuts a cattle farm. The driveway/lane that leads to my neighbor's house bears the name Bickerton Lane. It seems that the fence surrounding the grazing field is sorely in need of repair. The cattle wander at will through this broken down fence and onto my property. I hear them in the morning mooing and grazing through my yard and, annoyingly, leaving their fertile deposits behind them. So, I wrote this rhyme to calm myself down.

The bulls of Bickerton Lane do graze
    Upon my verdant lawn.
I hear them in the morning haze
    Mooing to the dawn.

  2. 42. Mary Had A Little Lamb

I often read nursery rhymes to my grandchildren, but they showed little emotion when I did. Therefore, I decided to write the rhymes in a more humorous way. They appear to be enjoying my little rhymes very much now. "Awesome, Grandad. You're funny."

I've written a number of these comic/satirical rhymes. I hope you like this one. If so, I'll send more later.

    Mary had a little lamb
    And a baked potato.
    Mary had a salad too,
    Of lettuce and tomato.

  4. 44. A 21st Century Visit From Santa

    • By Brooke Jones
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems December 2010

The classic "A Visit From Santa" MEETS Thomas Friedman's "The World Is Flat" in what could well become a new holiday classic. The birth of the world wide web has changed everything, forever, and for those not prepared, earning a living could be a challenge.

T'was the night before Christmas, and all through the house
Not a creature was sleeping -- not pet, child or spouse.
The people were tossing and turning in beds
With visions of bills dancing 'round in their heads.

  5. 45. Writing Utensil

Just a clever little poem about a pencil, I like more of the darker poetry, but thought I'd try something, well...witty.

    I marvel my pencil.
    My special, long, wooden utensil.
I just can't keep my hands from it.
I got him from a friend, and we've been inseparable since....

  6. 46. Problem On The Holidays

    • By Fatmonkey496
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 2009

I am a teenage writer that has lost his way in life

On New Year's Day my cat ran away
For Valentine's Day, no girls mould be mine
On St. Patty's day I got pinched by some laddys
On Easter I lost all my eggs to an old geezer...

  7. 47. Writing Block

    • By Rebecca
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems November 2009

Hi everyone! I'm just your average teen who enjoys listening to music, friends, and TV, but I also love writing! I wrote this poem for a writing club I'm in and it turned out to be pretty neat! I hope you enjoy!

I can not write a poem; my brain feels fried.
    It can do no more.
It is as though all my creativity has been trapped, isolated in a room without a door.

I feel the same way, but it takes like a month or two to finish one poem. When I do, some of them don't make sense.

  8. 48. I Love You/I Hate You

    • By Christina
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems October 2009

A smoker battling with the weed.

You're the love of my life and the cause of my strife
    You dirty cigarette
I've made many mistakes in my many days
But you are my one regret

  9. 49. Christmas Golf

My son needed a poem for school he could act out as he read. That was kind of hard to find. So I wrote this for him. It was my first one, have wrote many more since. Hope you enjoy this one.

Back in October a Christmas wish I made.
A brand new set of golf clubs before next year I played.
Then on Christmas morn, with my eyes I spied
An oblong box under the tree, with ribbon wrapped and tied.

  10. 50. Orange

Have you ever struggled to find a word that rhymes

Now see the beautiful sunset ore the ocean blue
Fiery colors do abound, of poems there are a few
I wish that I could write one, about that perfect hue
    But nothing rhymes with orange

    • By Caroline Mcmillan
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems March 2009

I feel chimps deserve more recognition for being awesome. Please enjoy this poem, a tribute to their awesomeness (also their occasional stupidity...).

    For a banana tree
That lived in the jungle nearby
His love was plain to see....

  13. 53. After The Operation

    • By Barbara Turner
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems September 2008

My husband had the cataracts removed from his eyes. It was then that I got to thinking about how well he would see after the operation and more important, would he like what he'd see?

So now he has had his eyes done,
and at last he can see,

but I was a bit worried,

    Taking a romantic ride today,
    We sat upon the wagon.
Suddenly the horse lifted his tail
And we heard a roaring dragon!

  15. 55. Picture Perfect

Another poem by Annabel Sheila, just for fun!

She stood there by the ocean,
The breeze gently lifted her hair.

    She was totally unaware.

  16. 56. Office Policy Change

Wouldn't the work environment be wonderful if office policy including time to laugh every day?

    Stepping into the boardroom meeting,
    Stepped out of character too.
Put a red slipper on one foot,
On the other, a bright blue shoe.
