Trail Of Tears
They walked miles on foot,
Loosing loved ones on the way,
Through grim, dirt and soot,
Traveling night and all day.
They walked miles on foot,
Loosing loved ones on the way,
Through grim, dirt and soot,
Traveling night and all day.
This poem was a very nice poem. My ancestors traveled the Trail of Tears.

Had he and I but met
By some old ancient inn,
We should have set us down to wet
Right many a nipperkin!
A tear ran down her cheek
As she read the words he wrote
His dad sat at the table
With a lump in his throat

I left home at seventeen to fight for King and country,
I signed up to a hero's welcome and proudly marched away,
We departed with pride in our hearts, sure we'd be home by Christmas,
The Hun was an easy catch, at least that's what they told us.
He marches along the dirt gravel road
His gun in his hands, his pack on his back
His countries weight on his shoulders
Wanting to go back...
You're somewhere far away doing what you must
we are left behind and told to be strong
They say go whether is right or wrong
duty calls...
I read this and thought about when my husband is on deployment and it was right on the money. Thank you so much for share this with all to read.

Restrain your anger
And run to find some shelter
Flames and eruptions
Are there only reactions...
where red poppies lay,
bodies decay.
people pray,
for their loved ones passed away....
I had a man long before the war,
Now I sit crying on the floor.
And yes, we still talk every day,
I am so very proud
Of how he turned out to be
He is out there standing his ground
Fighting for our country...
I found out recently that one of my brothers had joined the Army as soon as he left school. I am so very proud of him but it has made trying to contact him to express this more than difficult...
