81. Our Brothers We Shall Defend

I wrote this poem to describe the emotional pains soldiers bring home. I wrote this last year in the eighth grade. These brave men and women serve overseas and see the horrors of war. They will never forget but will never stop defending.

To those whom I've fought with
and to those I don't know your name,
we fought by one another.
You did not die in vain.

To those whom I've fought with

We fought, you died,
we bled, and I cried,
Even until our untimely end,
our country, our families, our brothers,

83. Tribute To Dale Earnhardt Sr.

I was in the Air Force and deployed to the Middle East the day Dale Earnhardt crashed. We were lucky enough to have a TV to see the race. Later that night, I sat in my bunk and wrote this for him.

I have built this machine with bleeding hands.
I have shaped it to slice the wind.
I have shined it with polish and sweat.
I have balanced it with feel

and powered it with iron and steel.
I will become one with it and give it life.
I will know the wind like the falcon.
I will know speed like the cheetah.

I wrote this remembering that my father and grandfather both sexually abused me, and I realized that I could move on.

Moving Beyond Bad Memories

Memories, memories
I have had.
Some were good, though most were bad.
Physical and sexual abuse occurred

And madness and sadness reoccurred.
I feel as though I'm on display as the messed up school girl here to stay,
but they will never know
how I will grow
and be someone someday.
So look at me in dismay
and you discourage me for the last time today.

This poem is for people who have lost their jobs and are really sad about it. But it tells you that you should always have hope no matter what the situation. Without hope, you wouldn't be there at all!

I try to instill in my daughters that we all are unique, so find yourself and be proud of who you are.

I Am Unique

I come with no wrapping or pretty pink bows.
I am who I am, from my head to my toes.
I tend to get loud when speaking my mind.
Even a little crazy some of the time.

I'm not a very hateful person, but I had to write an "I don't like" poem for school.

I don't like poachers and animal harmers,
Like Japanese whalers and fox shooting farmers.
I don't like people who waste and litter,
Bully and hurt or speak very bitter.
