    • By Kerry P. Howland

I wrote this poem with the intention of letting go of someone I love deeply who no longer claims to love me.

    Poem About Letting Go

    His love for you,
    he cannot show.
    For this alone,
    just let him go.

  2. 82. Tribute To Dale Earnhardt Sr.

I was in the Air Force and deployed to the Middle East the day Dale Earnhardt crashed. We were lucky enough to have a TV to see the race. Later that night, I sat in my bunk and wrote this for him.

I have built this machine with bleeding hands.
I have shaped it to slice the wind.
I have shined it with polish and sweat.
I have balanced it with feel
and powered it with iron and steel.
I will become one with it and give it life.
I will know the wind like the falcon.
I will know speed like the cheetah.
    I will not have fear
for this is where my spirit is free.

  3. 83. Snowman

I wrote this after a trip in the snow with my best friend.

As our feet sink in the snow
    We build a snowman
    No one will know
For the snow will melt away
As the night turns to day

  4. 84. Wishes

Wishing my family the best for the Christmas and giving Christmas wishes.

    Christmas Toast To Family

The orange glow of the fireplace
fills the room with Christmas cheer.
To my family I raise my glass,
full of wishes for the year.

  5. 85. This Is Who I Am

    • By Megan R. Bentz
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems August 2016

I wrote this poem for my history class, and it expresses who I am in a way but also gives the reader a chance to see who they think they are.

Surviving A Difficult Time In Your Life

    This is who I am:
    I am a fighter.
I have a lot of baggage from my past.
I may have some experience and some wisdom,
But I know there is a lot more to learn.
I will continue rising from the ashes
    Until the end.
    Nothing can stop me
    From being who I am.
    So who are you?

My poem is about fireworks on the Fourth of July. I wrote this poem because I love this holiday.

    Short Poem About Fireworks

    Flying fireworks
    In the air,
    Soaring like rockets,
    Everyone stares.

  7. 87. Give Yourself The Gift Of Silence

    Take the time you need
    to crawl in a space
    of silence.

    You don’t owe anyone
    any story, or
    any explanation.

    You owe it to
    yourself to work on
    your healing.

  8. 88. The Milestone

    One of the most
    important milestones
I ever reached in my life
    was accepting that
    people won’t always love you
    the way you want
    them to.

  9. 89. Job Loss

    • By Chefkitty
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems February 2011

This poem is for people who have lost their jobs and are really sad about it. But it tells you that you should always have hope no matter what the situation. Without hope, you wouldn't be there at all!

    Today I am tired,
    Because I got fired,
And now I have nothing to do.

    I have no money.
    My boss thinks it's funny,
And my brother laughs at me too!

    But I've got hope,
    And that's all I need,
For me to someday be in the lead!

  10. 90. Road To Nowhere

Sometimes it's great to just take off and go exploring. I love the beautiful scenery that you can find off the beaten path.

Taking A Chance On Something New

I like to blaze new trails
    on the road to nowhere.
    On a journey through time,
there are new vistas to behold
    off the beaten path.
    The scenery is fantastic,
as I soak up the sun-
    thirsting for adventure.

  11. 91. A Veteran's Duties

    • By Jason Matthew Keller
    •  Published by Family Friend Poems September 2008

I am Jason Keller. I am a Veteran of the US Army.

    If you are a Vet
    You might be in debt,

Times were hard and it made you sweat
Like dodging death and getting all wet,

We all carried our duties, I drove a H.E.T.
Our guns were up and we were all set,

We prayed and wondered if we were there yet
But the Lord had us in his "net."

You never know what you're going to get.
