Within my heart beats a separate pulse
With a rhythm all its own.
It comforts me in my times of need
And keeps me from feeling alone.

It provides me with memories, which make me smile
And keep my tears at bay.
It offers me a spiritual hug
When I'm having a difficult day.

It is the sweet heart of my daughter,
Long gone, but still held deep within.
It is all that I have, but it is enough.
It is everything she might have been.

I am not very happy with my genes.
They don't seem to suit me at all.
I wish I could have chosen my own,
But of course it was not my call.

My dad had thick and wavy hair.
Like my mom's, mine is thin and straight.
My father was tall, my mother short.
I never came close to five-eight.

My father's skin was swarthy,
My mother's unblemished and fair.
My dermatologist loves me;
I think I'm allergic to air.

My mother had all her teeth when she died;
My father lost his to decay.
My own have paid for my dentist's house, his yacht
And account on eBay.

My father wore a size 13 shoe;
My mother's size was petite.
I could get a job as a clown
And not have to purchase fake feet.

My dad was the strong and silent type.
My mother could gab with the best.
They will have to tape my own mouth shut
Before they lay me to rest.

I really wish I could file a complaint
About the raw deal I got,
But then, of course, I would not be me.
I'm not sure if that's good or not!

There are no birthdays in heaven,
For time has no meaning there.
Today is the future as well as the past.
A day is the same as a year.

There is no age in heaven,
For souls are not physical things.
A babe shares the wisdom of the old;
The old the fresh outlook youth brings.

There is no heartbreak in heaven,
For the heart is meant to be shared.
A golden thread joins to the soul
The hearts of all who have cared.

There is no sadness in heaven,
For love and peace abound.
We here on earth cannot understand
The joy we have not yet found.

There are no farewells in heaven,
Or mountains of grief to climb;
For those who reside there know the truth.
Life is but a moment in time.

The laughter of eternity's children
Resides in the glint of his eyes,
And his joyous laugh, which surrounds us all,
Leaves an echo that never dies.

The good will he sows so generously
Wraps us warmly in blankets of cheer,
And the words that he speaks bring great hope and joy
To small angels far and near.

To see a child's hopeful excitement
As he rests upon Santa's knee
Or the look of wonder on her face
When she encounters the magical tree

Overwhelms my heart with tenderness
And brings me lightness of mind.
Santa is here to spread his gift
Of peace to all mankind.
