I stand alone on the sandy beach
my tears flowing into the sea
because I know you're out of reach
and no longer here with me

I stand alone on the sandy beach

You looked so handsome laying there
In eternal sleep forever
The pain I hide is too much to bare
I want us to be together

But I am needed on this lonely land
for a little longer at least
to help and guide the people I love
giving them reassurance and peace

so I'll be on the shoreline here
to cry more tears over you
On your birthday every year
to celebrate our love so true

Until it's time to meet once more
to hold and love one another
as we did all those years ago
when I was your friend and lover.

He sent me an angel from so far away
To love and help me though all my woes,
To guide and stand by me when I face my foes.

Then one day God called her back
I missed my angel, so I followed her tracks.
Now in heaven all safe and sound,
I see my angel flying around.

Now it's my turn to do a good deed.
I'm sent back to earth to help people in need,

Sit back and reflect all the good times you've seen,

Who are they, what do they do?
Where do they come from, are they for me and you?
What do they look like, how do they sound?
Where do you keep them, where are they found?

Who are they, what do they do?
Where do they come from, are they for me and you?
What do they look like, how do they sound?
Where do you keep them, where are they found?

Can you hear them, see them, touch them?
How long do they stay?
Maybe a year, a week, or just even a day.

Questions you ask of them, you see
They are here to help us you and me
To guide and love us through all our years
Keeping away darkness and negative fears

But to find one yourself there's little to do
Just relax and listen to the true you
The little word or thought in your head
Is it a guide or something you read

My guess is with little effort and care
You're going on a journey so be prepared
To a wonderful place that's hard to have foreseen
Where your guides are and have always been

Talk to them and listen with ease
To what they say you will be pleased
So now you know your questions fulfilled
Because you took the time, your mind you stilled

It doesn't take much, just a few minutes a day
To meet your guides who have something to say
Words of great wisdom given with love

I lie here every night thinking of you
Tears fall from my eyes feeling so blue
Why did you leave me all alone
You got your wings and off you have flown

To a better place of light and love
The perfect garden in God's sky above
Where once in a while when I feel low
You will peek in on me and watch me grow

Because now I am older I am able to see
God didn't take you away from me
He just made you an angel with wings to fly
To look after all the children up in the sky

You're the perfect one for the job
I've wiped my tears, no longer do I sob
Now I sit here and think about the days
That I sing, talk and shout your praise

Never will I forget my lovely dear Nan
And no more tears will I shed
Because now I know she's in a better place

Waves lap against our boat
As we wait in the cold.
Wrap ourselves in our coat,
Waiting for the order to be told.

Waves lap against our boat
As we wait in the cold.
Wrap ourselves in our coat,
Waiting for the order to be told.

Watching all our mates watch us,
Each thinking the same as the other.
Are we going to fight tonight,
Stand side by side like brothers?

Orders been given, and off we go.
Terrifying noises all around.
Bombs exploding in our sight.
Machine guns are the other sound.

Bullets are whizzing past us now.
Dead bodies are scattered free.
People running for their life,
Screaming, "Somebody help me!"

Trying to make sense of all this.
Staying alive and alert through the night.
Wanting to go home to our family.
Keeping quiet and out of sight.

The enemy is near.
The footsteps are loud,
But we will not give in;
We stand together, proud.

Family in unit,
Brothers in blood.
Fighting our corner,
Covered in mud.

No one sees the fear in our eyes
Waiting to see if it's our time to die.
Not wanting to die this way,
But no other choice is what they say.

So here I lay in eternal sleep
Replaying my life as a soldier.
Would I change a single thing?
Would I still be here if war didn't begin?
