  1. A Sense Of Love

    • By William Wilson
    • Published by Family Friend Poems February 2019 with permission of the Author.

This is a simple poem simply created from my love of my wife.
For Valentine's Day, the first as husband and wife, I thought I'd try my hand at showing my love in a new, romantic way. What better way than through rhyme?

    in Wife Poems

Love is not something you see.
    It's meaning everything to me.
It's needing to have you in my life,
So much that I made you my wife.

During the holiday season let's remember to be grateful for the gifts God has bestowed upon us instead of envious of the gifts He has bestowed upon others.

    in Christmas Poems

    Christmas time is finally here.
It only comes but once a year,
And it's a time to spread good cheer
To those we love and hold so dear.

Philia love is a love between close friends. It is a generous and affectionate love. Philia means brotherly or platonic love in Ancient Greek.

    in Best Friend Poems

You have a gentle heart and a caring soul.
You use affectionate words in order to extol.
You are a true treasure encased in my heart,
A bond so strong, it will never depart.

  7. Autumn Leaves

The poem is about nature and the calming effect it can have on our lives. I have always been inspired by the beauty of nature and particularly love the changes autumn brings. Simple things like a leaf falling gently onto your lap can have so many meanings to different people. The shedding of leaves can be viewed as Mother Nature's way of letting go in the same way we may need to let go of things that are holding us back in our everyday lives.

    in Fall Poems

Golden, crisp leaves falling softly from almost bare trees,
Lifting and falling in a hushed gentle breeze.
Slowly dropping to the soft cushioned ground,
Whispering and rustling a soothing sound.

  8. Working In Your Dungarees

    • By Ronald Doe
    • Published by Family Friend Poems May 2010 with permission of the Author.

My mother is an extremely strong woman. She was forced to bury two daughters and a granddaughter. She catered to my paralyzed sister, Kelly, for 25 years. When Kelly died, the doctor called my mother and said, "I gave your daughter 6 months to live 25 years ago. There is no doubt in my mind she lived 25 years because of your undying love."

    in Mother's Day Poems

You always did the best you could
To make your children grow up good.
You always worked to make ends meet,
To give your children food to eat.

  9. Nature's Way

    • By Alora M. Knight
    • Published by Family Friend Poems April 2018 with permission of the Author.

At 96, I seldom get out anymore, but when I do, I like to people watch. It saddens me how to see the indifference that seems to be prevalent. I always try to smile at people, and usually the first response is surprise, then a bit of a shaky smile. Children are more apt to spontaneously smile back. The conflict between races is creating an unfriendly world. Each one of us needs to do our part to make it better.

    in Compassion Poems

    Is there anything as tranquil
    As a brightly glowing jonquil
    That stands in sweet serenity,
    A part of nature's tapestry?

  13. Every Day My Love For You Grows

I met a guy this year. First I thought he would just be another one of my guy friends. Then I started talking to him more and we started hanging out a lot, and somewhere in between all of that I started to fall for him.
