No Flowers
in Funeral Poems
I want no flowers when I die
No one too mourn me
no one to cry.
I wish no sadness, at my demise
John Peter Read was born in the East End of London in 1948. He was brought up by his Nan and mother, as his father left home when he was 5 years old. At the age of 15, John left school with just a basic education. While in school, he wrote little rhymes just for fun. A couple of his religious poems were published by the Christian church in the UK.
He always looks for the best in people regardless of their faults because none of us are perfect, and he’s not one to take life too seriously.
John joined the Family Friend Poems Forum in 2011, one year after his wife, Ann, passed away. Sharing his thoughts through poetry helps with the pain of grieving.

in Christmas Poems
Those Christmases of old
were much better by far.
We never had much money,
but we always got by.
in Poems about Life Struggles
Spring,summer,winter and fall,
the seasons of change
greet one and all.
I've never wished for fortunes,
I've always prayed for better things.
I'm happy and contented,
Never wanting to live like a king.
Love is in our heart,
love is in our mind.
Love breaks down all barriers,
love is always blind.
Thank you for your comment, HOSwrites. I'm sure Ann will be smiling.
Sorry for your loss Susan. You're not alone. I understand how you feel. The memories never fade. Everywhere you go, everything you do holds a memory. Sadly, time doesn't heal the pain; we just learn to live with it. Wish you well. Keep safe, sweetheart.
We have reached the peak of this terrible virus. I can now see that "Rainbow of Hope" on the horizon.
So sorry for your loss, Chris. My wife, Ann, passed away in 2010, and it still seems like it was only yesterday. No one can ever take her place. I can understand how hard it must be for you with 5 children, one just 2 years old. But you have to keep going, however much it hurts for their sake. My thoughts and prayers are with you brother Chris. I know what you are going through.
Thank you, Patricia. Sadly, it seems Santa is more popular than Jesus now days. It’s become big business. It’s more about money than love.
