Poem about Life Struggles

Pursuit Of Goals

As someone who documents his goals I've always been one to take risks to accomplish them. Being able to move on after a failure is something I had to learn and it's inspired me to write this short poem.

It's often said that you should pursue what your heart desires
Not to wait for the ember to burn, but to start your own fires

Not to fear the stinging pain, from the flame you'll light to win
But to embrace the risk it takes, to feel its warmth against your skin

Success will only come, if you drive towards your goal
And if you don't give up, when you're stuck inside a hole

They tell you to live your life, by the words of this advice
And that the joy you'll finally feel, will be worth the effort's price

But what they don't tell you, is the role your luck will play
Or that with the hard work, sometimes you'll also have to pray

You can't always win, regardless of the cards that you've been dealt
But what you can control, is the way the loss is felt

Not every goal you seek, is really for the best
And when you accept that fact, you'll see you're truly blessed
