So I guess I could lie and say I tried,
But the truth I can't deny,
I loved you, but you were beyond my reach.
You were a battle I couldn't defeat.
You were the brightest star in my sky
But also the farthest.
It was coincidence that brought us together
And fate that tore us apart.

This piece touched me to the core of my soul. I was in love with a friend I couldn't have. The friend was married and of the same sex. My friend loved me too, but our love could not be. It was devastating when my friend started pulling away from me. I almost lost my mind. I just couldn't understand why. I actually came to this page to find a poem that could soothe the pain, and I came across this piece. I felt it in my soul. It just can't make me whole. Instead of making me forget, it's causing me to fall in love all over again.

Mother died before I could say goodbye. Oh mother, how I lament your passing ......While you were hungry we were fed...... You wept in secret while we slept .....You gave so much yet we gave so little ....With kindness and love you kept us safe...... Time passed us by without the embraces we should have gave..... Yet we loved you so much but we did not show it .....With tears we remember the precious memories now past....May you rest a while till you stand once more ,and I will give you my hand. And I say I love you mum.
